It’s that time of the year again. Tikoy or “nian gao,” in Mandarin translates to “year cake” or Chinese New Year’s cake. It also translates to a “higher year” and many believe it’s a promise of a better year ahead. The tikoy’s sticky consistency symbolizes a healthy bond within the family and other relationships. For some, it also means luck will stick with you all year.
