It’s that time of the year again. Tikoy or “nian gao,” in Mandarin translates to “year cake” or Chinese New Year’s cake. It also translates to a “higher year” and many believe it’s a promise of a better year ahead. The tikoy’s sticky consistency symbolizes a healthy bond within the family and other relationships. For some, it also means luck will stick with you all year.
HOPING THIS NEW YEAR IS BETTER. We are still in the midst of a global challenge, but it can’t put the human spirit down. Sticking together is what the “tikoy” symbolizes. So, stick with family, loved ones, and your closest friends. Give them the perfect gift for the Chinese New Year with the hope and a prayer that we would be facing better days ahead.
