1. Fort Santiago

Entrance Fee: PHP 75 per person

A part of the structure of Intramuros, Fort Santiago is located at the mouth of the Pasig River and was built as the main defense fortress during the Spanish colonization. Jose Rizal, the Philippine National Hero, was imprisoned at the Fort while waiting for his execution. The Fort also features bronze markers tracing the footsteps of Rizal from his cell to his execution site.

2. Casa Manila

Entrance Fee: PHP 75 per person

Casa Manila typifies the house of the Filipino “ilustrado,” an affluent class bred by the opening of Manila to world trade in the late 19th century. Casa Manila, a museum of the era’s architecture and lifestyle, recreates this atmosphere of grace and luxury. The three-story building is a replica of the house of Binondo merchant Don Severino Mendoza.

3. Baluarte de San Diego

Entrance Fee: PHP 75 per person

Baluarte de San Diego has stood the test of time as a bulwark that defended not only its land but also the stories of the past. It was constructed out of a circular tower that was originally meant to protect Manila form the enemies during the Spanish occupation. This historical concrete structure withstood cannon fires, earthquakes, and the Battle of Manila.

4. Bahay Tsinoy

Entrance Fee: PHP 100 per person

Bahay Tsinoy, or “Chinese-Filipino House”, is a museum that documents the history, lives and contributions of the ethnic Chinese in the Philippines. China and the Philippines had engaged in trading even before Spain colonized the archipelago. Chinese ceramics, dating from the 10th to the 17th centuries, stand as a testament to the maritime trade between China and the Philippine islands.

5. Destileria Limtuaco Museum

Entrance Fee: PHP 100 per person

The oldest distillery in the Philippines shows history buffs the fascinating account of how the brand grew over the years in a charming stone structure in Intramuros. Discover Destileria Limtuaco’s collection of memorabilia that goes decades to more than a century back. The museum features the actual process of making rum and whisky, from fermentation to bottling.
